Website for residential care home in Holbeach, Lincolnshire

Drive By Websites has recently been busy in the design and build of a website on behalf of a residential care home in Holbeach, the Holbeach & East Elloe Hospital Trust – http://www.holbeach-hospital.org.uk

Holbeach & East Elloe Trust

The Trust was formed in 1988 because South Lincolnshire Health Authority announced their intention to close the hospital. Rather than face closure, the local community leaders got together and worked with the health authority to find a way to save the hospital from closure.

The hospital is now a registered charity (701458) and receives support from the local community, more especially from The League of Friends. The League of Friends has a fund raising shop in Holbeach.

The Trust provides six beds which are available for use by local GPs. There are also an additional 33 nursing home beds. Not only does the hospital offer residential care but nursing, respite and day care too.

Offshore Windfarm & Renewable Energy Website

Drive By Websites was absolutely delighted to be awarded the contract to build the website featuring an offshore wind farm being developed 20 miles off the coast of Lincolnshire and 28 miles from the coast of north Norfolk.

The information website is to keep visitors informed of project news and information to help people take advantage of the opportunities that will become available from this exciting new project. Triton Knoll is seeking the best value in respect of all aspects of its delivery with the aim of becoming one of the most cost-competitive offshore wind farm projects, generating some of the lowest cost energy for UK consumers.

The Triton Knoll Offshore Wind Farm has an expected maximum export capacity of up to 900MW. Once the project has been constructed, it will have the capacity to provide enough electricity to meet the potential energy needs of up to 800,000 average UK households annually.

The construction and operation of the wind farm could also represent a potential investment of over £3billion across the project life-cycle, and an important supply chain opportunity.

Mobile Friendly Berkley Owls – What A Treat

As an avid viewer of Springwatch and, of course, Autumnwatch, it came as a nice surprise for the writer of this blog to be asked to build a mobile-friendly website, together with a Facebook newsfeed, on behalf of Lincolnshire-based Berkley Owls. What a treat.

Berkley Owls rescues owls and, over time, has learnt how to care for them after they’ve had treatment at the vets. Injuries as a result of a traffic incident can be more serious than first appears because owls have fragile eyes that can be easily damaged. The Berkley Owl Rescue Centre has all the trained staff and equipment required to assess an injured owl. A lot of the equipment has been bought using donations without which they would be unable to treat the injured owls and would have to turn them away.

Berkley Owls can be booked to attend an event. The display is open to view throughout the opening times of the event and visitors can experience holding an owl for a small fee, and even have a photograph taken as a memento of the experience for an additional fee.

Recruitment Website – Early Years & Nannies

Both Drive By Websites & Drive By Design’s expertise was required to carry out the work required by Finnelle Recruitment.

Spalding-based, Finnelle Recruitment supply childcare professionals for nurseries and schools specialising in the recruitment of Nursery Managers, Deputy Managers either permanent or temporary.

For parents, Finnelle recommend nannies that have been personally interviewed and thoroughly screened by an experienced childcare consultant. The recommended nannies will possess the necessary skills and experience.

First of all, Drive By Design was set the task of designing the Finnelle Recruitment logo. Our graphic designer just loves getting creative and we feel that the logo design conveys Finnelle perfectly. We hope you agree.

The Finnelle Recruitment website was then designed with the new logo in mind and, of course, mobile friendliness. We’ve also integrated a Facebook newsfeed. Newsfeeds are an ideal promotional tool providing they are kept up-to-date. We are delighted to report that Finnelle have a good relationship with social media and they regularly update their Facebook page.

Mobile Websites – The Stats Are Staggering

The future is mobile friendly with the provision of Superfast 4G. Over the past couple of years or so, we have changed the way we shop, bank, communicate and even watch TV. The writer of this blog has recently returned from a weekend break in London which is living proof that Smartphone users take more photos than on any other device. According to the stats provided by www.ofcom.org.uk 60% of adults say that they use their Smartphone most of all to take a pic, rising to 89% of 16-24 year olds. Just over one in five adults (22%) mostly use their digital camera. From August 2013 to August 2014, people in the UK took an estimated 1.2 billion ‘selfies’.

Ofcom reported that in March 2015, two-thirds of people owned a Smartphone using it for almost two Time Spent Online hours every day to browse the internet, access their social media, bank and to shop online. This figure compared with just over an hour spent online using their laptop and PC.

On the 21st April last year, Google announced that if your website doesn’t pass the mobile friendliness test, it will feature less prominently on its search engine results. In a blog, the company stated that “this will have a significant impact in our search results. Consequently, users will find it easier to get relevant, high quality search results that are optimised for their devices”.

At the same time last year, research began to show that visits to retail websites via mobile devices had overtaken desktop traffic for the first time. Mobile commerce now accounts for 36% of the UK e-retail sales, rising to 40% for clothing and apparel websites.
