Website debugging and error fixing UK

Find the cause of a website fault, then fix it without creating three more

We investigate and repair problems across WordPress, WooCommerce, PHP, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, databases, APIs, payment systems and hosting environments. The service is for visible errors, intermittent failures and deeper issues where the website appears to work but produces the wrong result.

Evidence before guesswork

A bug report is the start of the investigation

“The checkout sometimes fails” can describe a JavaScript conflict, an expired session, a cached response, a payment webhook, a server timeout or data that only breaks one branch of the process. Reinstalling a plugin may make the symptom disappear for an hour without touching the cause.

We reproduce the fault where possible, inspect logs and browser output, trace the affected request and narrow the failure to the smallest responsible part. The repair is then checked against nearby functionality. This approach takes more thought than swapping plugins at random, but it protects the work that already functions.

The faults that do not announce themselves

Incorrect behaviour can be more expensive than a visible error

Missing validation

A form may accept impossible values or an import may bypass rules enforced in the browser. The page stays online while bad data moves further into the system.

Permissions and data isolation

A feature can look correct for the administrator while exposing an action or record to the wrong user role. We test what happens outside the expected account.

State and timing

Duplicate payment callbacks, retries, two simultaneous requests or a job resumed after failure can create problems that never appear in a simple demonstration.

Search and tracking gaps

A page can render for a person but remain hidden from search engines, use the wrong canonical address or lose enquiry attribution after a redirect.

Caching mistakes

Caching the wrong route can show stale prices, broken baskets, expired security tokens or another user's state. Clearing the cache treats the symptom, not the rule.

Silent integration failure

An API may return a valid response that contains an error state. Without suitable checks and logs, the local system records the request as complete.

A controlled repair

Protect the live website while the fault is isolated

01

Record the symptom

We collect the affected address, steps, account state, timing, recent changes and any screenshots or error messages.

02

Reproduce and trace

Browser tools, logs, code paths, database records and external responses are used to locate the failure.

03

Apply the narrowest sound fix

The change addresses the cause and preserves unrelated behaviour. Temporary workarounds are labelled as such.

04

Run regression checks

The original scenario, common alternatives and nearby workflows are checked before the task is closed.

Experienced UK developers

More than ten years of context behind each investigation

Long experience helps because website faults cross boundaries. A front-end error can begin in a PHP response. A slow database query can look like a failed payment. A server cache can make correct code appear inconsistent. Our developers have worked across live WordPress sites, custom systems, ecommerce, hosting and SEO for more than a decade each.

Our rates reflect an independent studio based in rural Lincolnshire, without replacing experienced technical work with a junior ticket queue. For a contained fault we can often start with a focused diagnostic allowance. Larger inherited systems may need a staged audit before repair.

Debugging questions

Website error fixing FAQs

Can you fix a website built by another developer?

Yes. We first inspect the available code, hosting access and recent changes. We will explain if the fault can be repaired safely or if the surrounding implementation needs attention first.

Do you only debug WordPress websites?

No. We work across HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, databases, APIs and common web hosting environments, as well as WordPress and WooCommerce.

Can you investigate an intermittent checkout or payment error?

Yes. These faults often require browser output, server logs, payment records, webhook behaviour and cache rules to be compared around the same event.

What access will you need?

It depends on the fault. We may need a WordPress administrator account, hosting or file access, logs, a database copy, a test account or limited access to a connected service. We request only what is relevant to the investigation.

Will you make changes directly on the live website?

Small and reversible fixes can sometimes be applied live with a backup. Higher-risk changes should be reproduced and tested in a staging or local environment before deployment.

Can you audit an AI-generated website for hidden problems?

Yes. We test data validation, permissions, error handling, payments, state changes, integrations, SEO and production configuration, including issues that do not appear during a basic demonstration.

Send useful evidence if you have it

Start with the address, symptom and last known working state

Screenshots, exact error text, affected accounts and the steps that trigger the problem can shorten the investigation.
